Our Story
From Hunters to Guardians of the Wild
Growing up, my brother Arshiyan and I were inseparable. Every holiday, we would head to our nani’s house, where our love for the wild was born. Ours was a family steeped in tradition — a tradition of hunting. Guns, forests, and wildlife were part of our everyday lives. We accompanied our elders on hunts and, along the way, we learned more than just tracking. We were taught about birds and animals — their habits, their habitats, and the delicate balance they lived in. Our uncles and father even introduced us to migratory bird species, filling our childhood with wonder and respect for nature. But as we grew older, something changed. The birds that once filled our skies — the sarus cranes, the peacocks — became rare sights. The wilderness we loved seemed to be retreating. That’s when we made a decision that changed everything: to transform our family’s legacy from hunting to conservation. It started small — sharing our thoughts with our family, convincing them. Then came the action. We began creating safe spaces for birds around our homes and farms — putting out water bowls and grain, building nest boxes, even trying out strange little experiments (some worked, many didn’t!). But slowly, we saw life return. The birds came back. Over the years, our passion took us to forests across India. Each trip deepened our commitment to wildlife and conservation.
